Everything you need to know about the Roadkill Rollers Small Teams Tournament

What is the Small Teams Tournament?

The Small Teams Tournament is a roller derby tournament for small teams: a fun day full of short, fast matches, for skaters and spectators alike. New to roller derby? On the rules page we explain what to look for in just a few minutes.

Format

This Roller Derby tournament features 8 teams, split across 2 pools. A team consists of a minimum of 8 skaters plus a maximum of 2 substitutes, who can be swapped between games. Each team plays every other team in its pool, resulting in three pool games per team. There are 13 games in total, including one final for the pool winners. Games are spread across the day as evenly as possible, with rest between each game. Because the focus is on learning and gaining experience, smaller leagues receive priority during registration.

The games

Each game lasts 20 minutes with no clock stop. Each team gets one team time-out per game. There is no official review. Four penalties in a game means a foul out. In the pool phase teams play in black and white; in the final they play in their own colours.

Schedule

Preliminary schedule: 11.00: officials meeting 12.00: tournament start 18.00: tournament end The two pools alternate, so you have at least 20 minutes between your games. There is also one half-hour break.
